Packaging is more than the bottle

Premium packaging is a system. The glass, the closure, the pump, the secondary, the case, and how they all behave together under fill, distribution and consumer use. Get any of them wrong and the decoration that sits on top is fighting an unwinnable battle. Fira’s packaging capability is built around five connected disciplines that together give brands a pack that performs as well as it presents.

Glass bottles and jars

Glass is the substrate where premium decoration matters most. We source flint, super-flint, coloured and frosted glass from a curated set of UK and Far East partners, with full control over wall thickness, base flatness, neck finish and tolerance. The right glass makes spray coating, screen print and hot foil land cleanly on the first attempt.

Closures and pumps

Closures and dispensers are where many premium packs lose points. A beautifully decorated bottle can be undone by a cheap-feeling pump or a closure that wobbles. We source closures and pumps that match the weight, finish and engineering tolerance of the bottle they cap, and we test them as a system rather than individual parts.

PET and aluminium

For travel, refill, and high-volume formats we work with PET and aluminium. Both substrates require their own decoration approach: PET behaves differently to glass under spray coating, and aluminium opens up direct print and spray techniques that glass cannot match. We bring the same premium decoration discipline to these substrates as to glass.

Structural engineering

Compound bottle geometries, asymmetric forms, multi-piece componentry. Structural engineering is the work of making sure a striking creative idea is also manufacturable, fillable, decoratable and shippable. Our packaging team works alongside our designers, our suppliers and the brand to engineer packs that hold their shape from sample to scale.

Colour-matched componentry

The hardest colour problem in packaging is matching across substrates: a bottle in glass, a closure in injection-moulded plastic, a pump in a different polymer, a foil seal in a third material. Colour-matched componentry means setting one reference and engineering all the parts to that standard, with the inks, lacquers and pigments adjusted per substrate.

How Fira packages premium

We act as the decoration partner for many brands and as the full packaging partner for others. The advantage of bringing both layers under one roof is alignment: the team specifying the bottle is the same team decorating it, so trade-offs are made with full visibility rather than across silos.

Talk to us about your componentry

If you are choosing components for a new launch, switching suppliers on an existing pack, or trying to align a range that has drifted out of consistency, we will run an audit and propose a plan. Most projects start with one component and grow into a full programme.
