Five-SKU home fragrance match

The Brief

A well-known home fragrance brand needed five candle vessels colour-matched across a cohesive new collection – each with a subtly different tone, but all sitting harmoniously together as a range. Their existing component supplier had been unable to deliver the glass on time, and sampling deadlines were already tight.

Fira was brought in to source the components, match the colours precisely to the brand’s existing candle glass SKUs, and deliver production-ready samples within a compressed timeframe.

Colour Matching Process

Colour matching at Fira is a craft built on experience. The process begins by placing the target sample under controlled lighting conditions in a colour-matching light box, then identifying the closest Pantone reference. From there, Fira’s team formulates the colour from primary pigments – red, blue, yellow, black, and white – drawing on years of hands-on knowledge to dial in the precise tone.

But matching a colour on a swatch is only half the challenge. The team must also account for how the coating interacts with the substrate – whether the finish is solid, matte, or transparent, and how the spray behaves on curved glass. A colour that reads perfectly on a flat sample can shift noticeably on a vessel with different wall thickness or curvature. Every variable is considered before a sample is signed off.

Delivering Under Pressure

With components still in transit and approval windows shrinking, Fira worked in parallel – preparing colour formulations and machine settings while the glass was on its way. When the vessels arrived, the team moved straight into sampling, eliminating the usual sequential delays.

Each of the five colours was matched, sprayed, and assessed under controlled lighting before being submitted for client approval. Fira’s detailed record-keeping – covering machine settings, colour formulations, and curing parameters – meant that once a colour was approved, it could be reproduced in production with confidence.

The Result

All five vessels were colour-matched, approved, and delivered within the deadline. The finished collection sat together as a coherent range – each shade distinct but clearly part of the same family. The project showcased Fira’s ability to respond quickly when supply chains are disrupted, and the depth of technical skill behind what might appear to be a straightforward colour-matching brief.
